Reinventing the self in art and humor
"The cure for boredom is curiosity. But there is no cure for curiosity." He certainly lived this event. I can say I've never been bored because my curiosity has passed over most of my other needs and emotions. I drove my parents crazy with "What's that?" Where are we going? What has been done and why we do it this way? "Questions; having to stand still with the typical response from parents, "because."
I spent my life living outside the box to see things different from others, trying to figure out why things are done in a way and why they could not be otherwise. For example, when I saw a rusty toaster in a garbage can that I thought, "what a great body of a doll!" Another example was a carpenter friend of mine had met a large box of crayons wood wood specialty stores. I asked if I could have and turned them into a single framework for a rustic wall mirror.
Luckily share artistic gift from my mother and my fingers in different art media all my life, batiking ie the manufacture of candles, acrylic, murals, graphic design, folk art design, collage, furniture and fauxing, and sewing. However, being a single mother of two, had to work in the business world to bring a stable income. This prevented me from taking my creative interests seriously.
In 2002, at the age of 50 years of age, had some personal tragedies made me suffer a stroke. I had to relearn how to read, write, speak and walk. This forced me to slow down and reassess my priorities. My kids were always my priority, but no longer living at home. I had recently divorced, so it was important to focus on me eventually. I wondered, "What would you happy? What's your passion? "
Being unable to work again in the stressful lifestyle, fast-paced corporate business response was immediate. art. Design. Humor. My father gave me his crooked gene 'humor' and is a big part of who I am. The laughter and fantasy has always helped me to shine in interior. So the answer became humorous art, whimsical Curiosities.
My Capricious Curiosities creations are my passion. I love being in my studio, coincidentally gather items found in unexpected ways. I am working alone (with my faithful dog of the tank), laughing out loud often. My dolls are made of antique porcelain head and arms, domestic appliances, kitchenware vintage pieces of the machine drawer items Garbage and clothing jewelry. My tiles are made of old toys, broken pottery, and vintage hardware.
My life will never be a stressful pace I'm glad and happy. I am also very proud of my curiosity and humor. Curiosity is the very foundation of discovery, adventure and education, and if you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say the cat died bravely!
