Barbie Dolls - history of the most popular doll ever
In 1959, the first Barbie doll was presented at the Toy Fair in New York. Billed as "New For '59, The Barbie Doll: A Shapely Teen Fashion Model Price $ 3.00." These Barbies made until 1972, are recognized as vintage dolls for their fans and are eagerly sought. 1959 Barbie in mint condition sell for thousands dollars. Some have sold for more than $ 8,000 to $ 10,000 but can be bought for much less and $ 2,000 to $ 3,000 is quite common. Later editions look proportionally less. Dolls made in the period 1969-1972 can often be bought for a few dollars. Garage sales and flea markets are still the source of a few dolls and early. vintage toys: Hippo piano in the late 70's and early 80's?
Want to buy a purple hard plastic (I think) hippopotamus. Not sure what company sold it. Hasbro? Mattel? Playskool? Hippo teeth were piano keys to metal in different colors. Me assembled a day when the three children struggled to play with this toy in particular, at the same time, broke. If, finally, I admit. And I've heard the sad story every Christmas, every family gathering. I would love to replace the toy and return to his grace. Thanks for any help.
