Collectible toy mechanical banks were some of the most complex banks and were generally made out of cast iron steel. These really were produced in great quantities from about 1870 all the way to 1930. Two of the more popular manufacturers of these toy mechanical banks were W.J. Shepard, and the Stevens Firm.
