Most everyone wants to know the value of antique collectibles that they have. Whether it be little knick knacks, things you admire, can’t live without, even things that make you wonder why you have them in the first place.

Say you have inherited a 1930s Mickey Mouse plush doll; it is only natural to be a little bit curious on what it is worth. The best way to learn about your antiques and the items you collect is to do some research on the manufacturer. Aside that, you will learn more about your prize piece, how much hard work went into making it, plus all about the artist who made it.

The most common ways to find out about your precious collectable toy is to carefully examine the toy for any notes on date by the manufacturer or maker. If the toy came in the original packaging, examine it very carefully.

The next step would be to take photos of your toy, record any markings or flaws that you discover. Look for information about the type of toy you have at a local bookstore or at a library.

Search at local stores or antique dealers that specialize in antique toys. If they don’t know, they may have some information on people who do.

Collectible toys from the 1950’s were without a doubt, so of the greatest ways to spend good quality, family time for many hours a night during this time period. A lot of the toys were geared towards young children, though a lot of toys were great for all members of the family, including the adults.

Collectible toys from the 1970’s consist of some of the toys that many kids still play with today. Collectible toy mechanical banks were some of the most complex banks and were generally made out of cast iron steel. Collectible toys from the 1980’s have just recently become very collectible among avid toy collectors in the world. The 80’s was sort of an awkward time for toy producers because of the high success of those from the 1970’s. There were many toys produced that never quite hit the market with a bang, though there were some that did have success and are now highly sought after items.

Though some of the toys were very unusual, most of the popular toys during the 1980s seemed to follow the trend of those from the 70’s as reality characters and fiction characters, or dolls. One of the most popular 1980’s toys was the Care Bears toys and the Strawberry Shortcake dolls from the 1980’s. These two types have been produced in many different years and are loved by children and adults, though these vintage toys from the 80’s have become increasingly popular over the last few years.

Some of the unusual collectible toys from the 1980’s were the Mon Chi Chi, the Popples, and the Chubbles dolls. The Popples was a doll that rolled around inside of a plastic doll. The Mon Chi Chi toys were little monkey like characters that were made out of different types of fabrics, and the Chubbles was toys that would light up every time the light in the room would change. Everyone in the past that had been buying toys at the time thought these were unusual mainly because they had been used to the past which were a little more realistic in characteristics and with the big change that many manufacturers took, many folks did not quite know how to take the big change and just thought it was strange.

Although unusual, some of these collectible toys from the 1980’s can be moderately expensive to very expensive mainly because there weren’t many manufactured. The common toys can be purchase for inexpensive to very expensive prices, depending on the quality, quantity, and your personal want of the collectible toy.

Collectible toys from the 1960’s have taken a rise in interest in many collectors all around the globe and collectible exhibits, as well. You may run into an extremely popular kind that wasn’t manufacture in large quantities or possibly do not have many remaining left on the market, that may be more expensive in price but at the same time, you can find thousands of collectible toys from the 1960’s at very reasonable and inexpensive prices for as low as $5.00. If you are looking for a particular toy, or a very broad assortment of toys from the 1960’s, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding what you are looking for fairly quickly.

The collectible toys from the 1990’s had brought in the introduction of military and public servicemen action figures. There had been a few military action figures and policemen and firemen action figure toys prior to the 1990’s but this is when the market really took off for these types of toys that are now considered collectibles. Little boys and girls all over the world would play with military soldiers, Indians, policemen, and firemen action figures for hours on end, or until supper time, that is.

These sought after collectible toys from the 1990’s were able to be purchased, at the time, for just a couple of dollars, but now can bring prices of over $1,000 at collectors exhibits as they are extremely popular. The 1990’s was not very long ago and many collectors remember these toys as when they were young, or their children were young and used to play with them so it tends to bring back a feel of their childhood. The fact that these toys are not too old, many collectors already know a great deal of information about the specific toys they are looking for, which make it much less difficult to research the values as well, making the market for these toys much more broad and bringing in competition amongst buyers.

Plastic materials had nearly taken over by the 1990’s, as opposed to the wooden, cast iron, or fabric toys, making these toys much less dangerous as far as causing injury where as a cast iron toy may have some sharp edges or wooden toys could have splinters that could also harm a young child.
